The Company

Water Treatment Technology and Chemical Company Nigeria Limited (WATTCCON) was established under the Company and Allied Matters Act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 30th October 2003 with RC No. 497339, as a prospective producer and marketer of liquid Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Bleach), an industrial chemical used for municipal potable water treatment and industrial wastewater treatment, industrial process applications and commercial bleach production.
WATTCCON is also in the business of potable and  wastewater treatment chemicals and equipment supply and service.

With a financing facility offer based on the US Exim Bank Medium Term Loan ‘MTL’ Program from GE Capital USA and local obligor bank guarantee from FIDELITY Bank Nigeria PLC, the factory construction is on stream alongside equipment fabrication in the USA, Japan and Australia. The factory commissioning, first commercial production and delivery is billed for 4th Quarter, 2013.

Equipment suppliers and technical partners are GE-Ionics Inc, a GE Infrastructure (Water & Process Technologies) subsidiary company and acclaimed world leaders in environmentally friendly Chlorine Bleach production plants, with whom WATTCCON entered an MOU in August 2003. The CLOROMAT production technology pioneered by GE-Ionics Inc. is the world’s leading environmentally friendly and modern method of Chlorine Bleach production termed electro-dialysis using a GE patented modularized cell membrane system. Main raw material and utility required by the plant shall be solar salt, process water and electricity all available or to be outsourced locally.

Product and Packaging
The WATTCCON plant shall produce high grade, low impurity Sodium Hypochlorite of about 40,000 Liters per day expandable to a maximum of 160,000 liters per day of 12.5% w/v (equivalent to 125ppm or gram per liter of Chlorine concentration). A second plant in Rivers State producing 200,000 liters per day is to strategically follow the Kaduna plant.WATTCCON’s Sodium Hypochlorite will be packaged for sale to prospective customers in HDPE containers with tamper proof seal. For special delivery requests,1000 litre(steel armoured), 6,500 litre and 8,800 litre Upvc / GRP bulk storage drums can be arranged. Product Specification Data of WATTCCON’s proposed Sodium Hypochlorite,Material Safety Data Sheet, our Conditions of Saleand the GE CLOROMAT production technology can be viewed and downloaded from this site.WATTCCON’s Sodium Hypochlorite shall be offered with a promise of high quality, low impurity and on-time delivery guaranteeing our customers prompt technical support, reduced costs, safer and easier handling and a better product environmental impact via a cost beneficial phase-out of the conventional and often hazardous Chlorine gas and Calcium Hypochlorite HTH powder hitherto used for dis-infection and bleaching purposes, most times without guaranty of originality and shelf life quality.

Financing
The overall project cost is $11.5m comprising $9.5m in GE equipment facility and N316m local loan from Fidelity Bank PLC.
Raw Materials and Utility Requirement
WATTCCON’s main utility and raw material requirement is: 16,000 KWhr of electricity per day, 90m3 of water per day and 10 tons of solar salt per day. WATTCCON envisages a 33% availability of power from the national grid thus geared up for 66% run time on its auxiliary generating plants, envisaging a lowering of the auxiliary plant power run time with expected improvement in national power generation and distribution based on the new electric power sector reforms in Nigeria.
Market Demand
WATTCCON plans to fill part of a national demand for Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine Bleach) for municipal potable water treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, commercial household bleach, refinery, petrochemical, LNG and several other industrial process applications requiring chlorine in liquid bleach environmentally friendly form.
Where opportunities exist, WATTCCON shall offer its product to neighboring West African markets and leverage on the opportunities export trade offers.
Our raw material and finished products shall be outsourced and sold respectively, via a strong suppliers and dealers network, with exception of special production contract agreements that may be entered into with some customers to run their critical operations.
Benefits
WATTCCON shall by this bold production initiative reduce Forex flight hitherto experienced vide importation of Chlorine in all its forms, ensure originality and standards of Chlorine productsavailable on demand in Nigeria and also ensure availability and ‘on-time-delivery’ for critical industry applications and most especially as it affects life in drinking water dis-infection applications as our contribution towards the UN Millennium Development Goal of Clean Water and Sanitation for all by the year 2015.
